Instructions
Getting started
- Click "Settings..." to change the way the drill works — you can control which chord functions you'll be asked (see the groups listed below), in which keys, and if sounds will play.
- Click "Start Drill" to see your first question.
- You'll see a blank staff, and the name of a chord function. You'll hear a basic IV V I chord progression to establish the key, then the chord you'll need to build.
- Add in the notes to make the chord one at a time, by clicking on the note button you need, then clicking on the staff.
- If you get it right, you'll get another chord to build. If you try adding a wrong note the drill will "shake", and you can try again.
- Hints: you can click "Play chord" to hear the chord, or "Give up" to see the answer and go on to the next question.
- When you're done working, click "Stop Drill".
Using your keyboard
You can quickly choose the note you need using the keys 1-5:
1 = double-flat, 2 = flat, 3 = natural, 4 = sharp, 5 = double-sharp.
